Things are starting to look up, sorta

First off I just want to share a song that always puts me in a good mood, never fails!

Anything by DMB actually, it just makes my whole day but it usually has to be live.  The energy in their live music is just insane.  I have been lucky enough to attend 2 DMB shows with backstage passes, and they are some of my best times in life thus far.

I have officially decided to get this tattooed on my hip or shoulder. I can't decide~

Anyways, enough of my DMB obsession....

We are getting the subaru fixed here shortly which I am so thankful for...  but unfortunately when it's fixed we have to make a trip to Minnesota for some not so happy reasons.

I have a list of projects a mile long to finish, including a quilt that I was supposed to be doing with Fat Quarterly's Quilt Along, but never did because we moved.  I swear that's a valid excuse!

I have a few skirts for Olivia that I need to finish, and a lot of Halloween and Thanksgiving related crafts to get to.

Here's a sneak peek at some of the fabulous inspirations out there....

I am loving this picture frame with pumpkins, the options are endless.  Imagine plastic spiders, or 3D lettering with the word BOO. I found this tutorial on eighteen25  but you can also find it at Becky Higgins blog.  Go over there, seriously.  Her photography is absolutely inspirational.

Seriously could these Turkey cupcakes get any cuter, I don't know if I could even it one they are so cute.... yea your right, I could totally eat one, or maybe all!

These can be found at Donna's blog, Chuckles, Grins, & Banged-up Shins.

Jana over at Bits of Me created this awesomely creative take on Subway Art.  I am in love with the book pages.

I am jumping on the fabric pumpkin bandwagon, and using this fabulous tutorial from Tatertots and Jello.
I love that Jen used unique fabric for these, they really pop!

That's all for my fall project to-do list for now.

But before I go, I would like to direct your attention to a blog that really inspired me and lifted my spirits up. It is a blog that I think all bloggers should read, no matter how big or little you are in blogland.

So please go to Mustard Seed Creations and read her advice on blogging, it really gave me the boost I needed to back into the swing of things, and helped me realize not to be so hard on myself when I visit all the other fabulous blogs out there.

Life goes on

Hello blogger friends...

It's very nice to see you again :)

It has been quite some time, you know with my being neglectful moving and all...

Do you all ever get in a bad mood and stay that way for a very long long time??
Because I am in a mood, and have been for several months now to be perfectly honest, I am on the verge of being extremely depressed, and I hate being this way.  I really don't have much of a reason either.  I have a beautiful daughter and a great marriage to my wonderful hunk.

But you see, the thing is that I hate where I am living. I despise this place with all of my being.  We have been here for almost 2 yrs and I have yet to say that I have truly met an honest to god true friend.  I thought I had some, but they have all recently proved me otherwise for the most part, and it's not because they are not good people because most of them are.  I apparently just don't have that kind of friendship with them, the one where you can call each other ANY time of the day and they will be there for you.  The kind that might as well be on your family tree.

I don't have that here, nor do I have any actual family here besides my daughter and husband, I miss having that. I miss not being myself and spending my days working out, crafting, cooking, and what ever the else hell that makes me happy.

Apparently I have bad karma, or I made God mad, because for the last 6 months it has been one thing after another, and it's always a very bad thing (like both of our vehicles breaking down) and it's always expensive.

You know that saying about how God doesn't give you more than you can handle, well guess what?!  He can take some of it back because I can't freaking handle it anymore.

So now I am going to go to work, because I had to get a night job at a local pizza joint.  This means I no longer get to put my daughter to bed and it also means that I will be serving stupid pepperoni pizza on Halloween night instead of taking my daughter trick or treating for the first time, all because some dumb 18 yr old Bia requested the night off so she can go smoke pot or go drink, hell, she's probably doing both.  And the only reason this is happening to me is all because we need money to buy my car a new engine and my husbands most likely needs a new fuel pump which are not cheap as we both drive foreign cars.

F my life right now.

Nine years ago today, it was a chilly Tuesday in Wyoming.

I was in the ninth grade and new to that school since I was homeschooled 7th and 8th grade.

I remember alot of whisper and chatter in first period, but I had no idea what was going on.

Down to the basement I went for 2nd period, it was Spanish.

Mrs. Shuck informed us that the WTC had been hit with a plane, we all sat their at listened to the radio and turned on a little TV.

I remember just feeling more sick to my stomach by the second, and finally went home to my mom and dad.

I proceeded to watch the TV all day, I will never forget that feeling in the pit of my stomach as I watched these poor people jumping out of windows to escape the horror inside the buildings.

That is my account of that life changing day Sept. 11, 2001.

A few years later, I went on a mission trip with a friend from church the summer that I turned 16.   I did go to ground zero and the emptiness there was indescribable.  There were still memorials everywhere, and a giant fence surrounding the area.

Today I have watched a few shows on the History Channel dedicated to 9/11, and they have been a chilling reminder to NEVER forget all the beautiful lives lost that day.  Mothers, Fathers, brothers, sisters, friends and the like.  All of the policeman, fireman, EMS, good Samaritans, and everyone else that risked their live so that they may save another.

It is so saddening to see all of the hate in the media the last few weeks, especially the Pastor from Florida!  I really hope that he does not follow through with the Quran burning, it will not make things better for America or our troops overseas, and I pray that he realizes this.

Obama made a speech today and one sentence really touched me, "We were not attacked by a religion that day, we were attacked by Al Qeda."

America was founded by men and women who came here to escape religious persecution, how American is it then, to burn another religions literature??

That kind of action will only provoke the extremists, and make things so much worse.  I hope that people in America can be the bigger person, and look past someone's religion, and see the person for who they really are.

I pray that everyone today can take one minute out of their day to give thanks for all of our emergency personnel, service men and women, and I pray that everyone may treat each other as they would want to be treated, regardless of religion, color, gender.

Hope everyone has a great day,

Olivia and I are recovering from a cold, so I will probably do some cleaning and sewing.

What are you doing this weekend??

Crafting away

I have spent the majority of my weekend crafting away. I made several flower clips for my beautiful daughter to put in her hair, and I made a project for my 1st guest post ever on the fantabulous blog by my blogger friend Heather over at Straight Stitches. I am not sure what day it will be posted this week, so I would love it if you could pop on over there sometime this week to see it.  You can find a little sneak peak right here of what I made.  I also bought supplies to make my first ever quilt- I am doing a quilt along this month with one of my favorite blogs- Fat Quarterly, and I bought supplies for a few Halloween/ fall themed projects for this month.

Are sick of all my links yet???

Let me show you the clips I made for my daughter and then we will get on with business...

Excuse my messy floor, I was too busy crafting.  (that was not a joke)

anyhow, when I get my camera up and running, I will take much better quality pics and put up a tutorial on my take of the flower hair bow.

Now on with the games,

I am linking up with Tuesday Tag Along today!
Come join me in the partayy!!

No more babies for a while

Hi ya'll!

At this moment I am reliving some moments that I am surprised to find I forgot about so quickly.  I am talking about the constant neediness and care that a newborn requires.  It was only 1 yr ago that I was in this position, how could I have forgot so quickly??  And, just for the record, it is not my newborn, I am babysitting her today and while she is cute, she cries an awful lot and needs burped after every feeding so her belly does not get upset and she requires so many diaper changes.

It's not that I have never been in this position before, it's just that I forgot about it. I am moving into the toddler years, I can just sit back and watch my child play, and talk, and discover.  My living room is no longer littered with pack n' plays or swings, or bottles, and blankets.  Life was starting to get easy, and then I offered to watch a new born.  What was I thinking???  I am sort of kidding, she is cute to cuddle and all but it definitely made me realize that I don't want another baby for a few years. I really am enjoying my one on one with my little toddler, and I don't want to sound mean, but I just don't feel like interrupting that time with another baby that constantly needs to eat, sleep, and poop.  Give it a few years and I am sure baby fever will be in full swing, but just not right now.

On a side note, please keep an eye this week for my first guest post ever!!! It will be on the ever fabulous blog Straight Stitches, written by Heather.  She has some amazing projects on there and is so down to earth.  I just love the friendships that come about in the blogging world!  I am not sure what day it will be on there this week, so keep a lookout for it on her blog.  I will give you just a little tease of what it's about-

that's just a little taste!

I also will be having a few projects coming up this week that I am super stoked about.  They are halloween/ fall themed and I can't wait to see the finished product.

I ran across this kick-ass thrift store (although it does sort of smell in there)  here and found a wreath that I am going to re-do.  Why you ask, well let me tell you why.  Here in my one horse town where I live, there is no such thing as Jo Ann's, Wal Mart, or craft stores in general.  So instead of going to the store and buying a foam wreath, I have to search out the thrift store, I am not really complaining, but I would prefer to go to Jo Ann's instead of just hoping there is something worth buying there to re-do, that's all.

I also found a way to use up all of my saved formula cans, I knew they would come in handy!!! Even better, it is a Halloween decoration, and involves spray paint!  I love myself a can of spray paint.

Have a great Labor Day everyone, and enjoy these cute pics of my "toddler".

Here goes Nothing

Here Goes Nothing
I am about to start my first quilt, thanks to Fat Quarterly's Quilt Along

We're going to be making a quilt using the block in the picture above. One block, 80 times over for a quilt that finishes up at 44 x 55 inches. Perfect for a Christmas present for a little one, or baby shower gift, or just for snuggling under on the sofa.

Want the stats?...here we go;

You will need either 1 jelly roll

OR

20 different FQs (you won't use all the fabric in the FQs, but 20 gives you a nice variety of colour/pattern) plus a 55cm cut or 3/4 of a yard cut.

*****Edit - if you want to make the bigger size 30 FQs should be plenty*******

(If you'd prefer a larger quilt, use 2 jelly rolls and end up with a quilt that measures 66 x 72 inches - you will need to make 156 blocks for the bigger size)

Here's the schedule for those of you that like to plan ahead...

Monday September 6th - cutting instructions (both jelly roll and FQ cutting instructions)

Monday September 13th - piecing

Monday September 20th - quilt top assembly

Monday September 27th - wrap up

Wow, 1 finished quilt  in 1 month.  That's more than I would get done on my own, so yes, I will be quilting right along.

Here is why I have felt so compelled to make a quilt recently.....

I love the colors of the adorable puff quilt at Sew Dang Cute!!

This fabulous inspiring quilt was made by Karrielyne from Freckled Whisy

You have to check her blog out, she has some fabulous quilts on there.

This work of art was made by Rachel of P.S. I Quilt and is also featured in the Moda Bake Shop.  I love the colors of this.

And of course Amy Butler's fabulous quilt designs- how can you not be inspired by that??

These can all found at her fantastic free patterns website.

I hope you enjoy all of this quilting eye candy and wish me luck as I quilt along with Fat Quartely.

Almost There

I am 3 followers away from 100!!!! I started blogging a few months ago as way to keep in touch with family and friends without being obnoxious on Facebook. haha- I never would have guessed that it would turn into this.... I have met amazing people, with amazing talents, and entered into a fantastic world that I never even knew existed.

WOO HOO!!!!

I am also almost finished with an apron I have been sewing for a few weeks, maybe that will be my giveaway once I reach 100 followers. I am still brainstorming but I know that I want to do one.

I will post pics once it's done today or tomorrow, depending on how much I can accomplish.

Monday, August 30, 2010

I am linking up to these Monday Blog Parties.  Today is a fabulous day, it is very rainy, so I am sewing, blogging, and drinking a delicious cup of tea (thanks for the tea again Mom). I had a fabulous weekend haning out with my best friend from high school, my brother in law, and family.  We attended a fabulous fundraiser for "Race for the Cure" called "Bingo for Boobies". It was so much fun and turned out fabulous.

Photobucket

Head on over to "All the Weigh" and link up to Friend Makin' Monday's like I did.  It is such a fabulous post.
I loved answering these questions for the link up.

I like... rainy days that involve hot tea, naps, and a little bit of sewing  (p.s. that's what kind of day today is)

I don't like...when my husband falls asleep watching TV on the couch instead of cuddling with me in bed.

I love...Fall... everything about it- the weather, the colors, the smell, the activities, the food...EVERTHING!

I dream of...my life in 5 yrs, 10 yrs, 25 yrs.

I wonder...what Olivia (my 1yr old daughter) will be like when she grows up.

I know...that I need to live closer to family.

I went... to a "Race For The Cure" fundraiser this weekend and had a blast and also met up with my best friend from high school!!

I have...a lot of packing to do in the next few weeks.

I think...about the past, and future a lot.

I plan...to go back to school for my Early Childhood Education degree within the next year.

I regret...my high school and college grades and attendance.

I do ... Love sewing- even though I am new at it and not fantastic.

I drink...wheat beer and gin and tonics when I am in the mood.

I wish...I had money to fix my car.

I am...at a fork in the road with my life and don't know which way to go.

I am not...a perfect Mom but I sure am trying.

I need...to start working out again.

I graduated...from high school, and some college.

I hope...that I can grow old with my husband.

I want...to live closer to family, and to be an excellent seamstress.

I sometimes...snort when I laugh.

I always...hug and kiss my family. (dog included)

I can... sing pretty well.

I work...at home as a homemaker.

I cannot...skip.. I broke my ankle in high school and have not been able to since then.

I avoid...crowd... I am majorly introverted.

I will...live a long healthy, happy successful life with my husband by my side watching our children grow up.

P.S.  Once I reach 100 followers I will be doing a giveaway.... I am thinking something sewn by me... something cute, fun, and useful.

Happy Friday

Today is a particular Happy Friday-

This evening I will be going to Bozeman, Mt- a few hours away from me.  Once I get there, I will get to see one of my best friends from high school, as she is a genius who got accepted into MSU's nursing program.  Any of you in the nursing profession know that simply getting accepted into a program is a feat in itself.  I am so proud of her, and can't wait to party it up with her. Although, I fear my party skills are not what they used to be, so that probably means that we will go to dinner and have a few cocktails- so unlike my past escapades of going to the bar and stumbling home wasted at 3am.  My how time have changed.

Tomorrow evening I will be attending a poker and bingo function called "Bingo for Boobies", It is a fundraiser put on by a few of my cousins to support their part in Race for the Cure!! They will be going to San Francisco and walking 60 miles in 3 days. I can't wait to go support them while kicking butt in poker and bingo.

Today I am linking up to.....

My Christmas To Do List--- Part 1

This beautiful stuffed fish comes from a fabulous tutorial from Lindsey over at The Cottage Home
My 1 yr old daughter is obsessed with fish at the moment and she walks around all day long saying ffffff sh, while she points up at the wall at the beautiful painting of the fish and also my husbands fish mount of a walleye he caught in Canada several yrs ago.  Obsessed is an understatement of how much my darling loves fish, so this will be the perfect Christmas gift for her.

Felt Food, the above picture is a felt pizza with removable toppings so the kids can get really creative. I found this at craftster.org

I also came across the fabulous blog Keeper of the Cheerios who has been so kind as to compile a list of the most fabulous felt food patterns that she has found.  My daughter is going to love playing kitchen with all of this come Christmas time.
Tea Party Sweets PDF Pattern
This is an adorable Tea party felt food set, you can find the pattern among many others available for sale at Gulf Coast Cottage etsy's shop.

Okay, so now I have to find some gifts to make for someone other than my daughter.

I have this lovely bag (from Martha Stewart of course) in mind for one of my very best friends ever.  She owns so many bags, but I don't think one of them are this darling, and to go with it is a fabulous computer cover from a pattern I have been saving for her personally.

I must find someone to make these luxurious pillows for!

All right, for the hubba wubba- (clears throat) and for me  ; )

Amy Butler's beautiful quilt that I shall make for our room. Our room needs a drastic makeover and I think this is just the thing. I love the design and the name says it all Sexy Hexy.  Even better, this is a free downloaded pattern!!!

This is going to be a gift for one of the mother in laws that I have

Thanks Jessica for sharing this very detailed tutorial.
